According to the glacier catalogue, western Georgia contained 409 glaciers with a combined area of 465.7 kmІ [26]. Distribution and other details are provided in Appendix 1. By 2010, the total glaciered area had decreased to 384.4 kmІ, and by 2015 and 2020 to 318.7 kmІ and 274.9 kmІ, respectively. This corresponds to a cumulative area loss of 190.8 kmІ (41.0%) relative to the catalogue baseline. The reduction occurred in distinct phases: a loss of 81.3 kmІ (17.5%) during the initial six decades, followed by an additional 47.5 kmІ (13.7%) over the subsequent five-year period.
